MMSA was invited to be the keynote speaker at the Creon Methanol Conference held in Moscow today. Our Simon Maddren spoke about the positive outlook for the methanol industry, with demand expected to grow by more than 60 million tons globally over the next 20 years. New world scale methanol plants need to be added at the pace of 2 per year to meet this demand growth and replace redundant capacity. Green methanol technology is an exciting part of our future and these plants will help the transport sector to decarbonize. Established methanol derivatives will look to new blue methanol plants to support their growth whilst lowering carbon emissions.
