MMSA Again Hosts an IMPCA International Methanol Conference
2020 International Methanol Conference – Coping With the Global Pandemic
Date: October 21st – 22nd 2020
Presentations and live Q&A offered in European, Americas and Asian Time Zones
MMSA will again gather methanol players from around the world with the International Methanol Producers and Consumers Association (IMPCA) this October as a continuation of the industry’s major internationally-focused Asia-based methanol event, this time in a unique online format which will include MMSA outlooks along with interviews of major industry decision makers. The reason for holding this event virtually is the same one impacting methanol markets: the global spread of COVID-19. In the first half of the year, it has become clear that traditional methanol use has been a victim of slowed global economies. Nevertheless, olefins manufacturers using methanol as feedstock (MTO producers) have benefitted as MTO economics have improved radically (at the cost of low prices and margins for methanol suppliers). Thus, the Asian region is again dictating the fate of global methanol markets, especially considering the disadvantaged economics of methanol production from coal, which is shutting in a significant amount of production capacity in China. The presentations will detail market supply and demand, pricing, margin, and trade expectations for methanol globally from a broad array of perspectives.
This conference content supports timely conversations and virtual meetings with attendees and sponsors to prepare for the following year’s business planning. It remains a “must-attend” event even in this virtual format.
